Have been associated with bees all my life. Completed a course under Dr Lundie in Pretoria in the early 60’s. Past Chairman of KZN Beekeeper’s Association, Western Cape Beekeeper’s Association and Southern Cape Beekeeper’s Association.

Professionally trained as a teacher and taught at a high school in KwaZulu-Natal for 7 years and then became a senior lecturer at a Teacher’s Training College in KwaZulu-Natal for 5 years.

At present a full time bee farmer on the family farm in the Heidelberg /Swellendam area in the Western Cape.

Kept bees for last 15 years as a hobbyist with 80 hives for honey production. Worked for the KZN Department of Agriculture until retirement in 2004. While there, re-instituted the Cedara Beekeeping Short Course which has now been running for 9 years. Still involved with the course at present. Have been involved with the KZN Bee Farmers' Association since 1994 and serve on the Committee. Joined the SABIO Management Committee in 2005 and currently involved with the Training and Education portfolio on the Committee.
